A trailer for the highly anticipated Hunger Games prequel, "The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes," was released on Wednesday, depicting events that occurred during the 10th Hunger Games, over 60 years prior to the events of the original trilogy. Tom Blyth stars as a young Coriolanus Snow. Desperate to save his family's status and get into university, Snow must mentor a tribute in the 10th Hunger Games, an event in which 24 tributes from 12 districts must fight to the death until one survivor is left.Snow becomes the mentor to the female District 12 tribute, Lucy Grey Baird, played by Rachel Zegler. The trailer shows events involving Snow and Baird as the 10th Hunger Games unravels, along with how Snow became the bloodthirsty ruler most remember him as in the original series. Alongside Blyth and Zegler, the film stars Viola Davis, Peter Dinklage, Hunter Shafer, Jason Schwartzman and Josh Andrés Rivera.Francis Lawrence, the director of Catching Fire and Mockingjay Parts 1 and 2, returns to direct the prequel.
