Joe Exotic, who rose to fame during the pandemic as the Tiger King thanks to a popular Netflix documentary series, has released a statement aimed at Cincinnati's Tiger King.In a statement posted to his Twitter account, Joseph Aldonado, also known as Joe Exotic, went after Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow for people using the "Tiger King" title on him on social media and in the news."I see the news, magazines as well as yourself calling you the Tiger King. Everyone in the world is exploiting me and my trademarks while I sit innocent in an American Federal Prison," the statement begins. "I have been the Tiger King before you got out of high school. Tiger King is my trademark and my intellectual property."My life has been destroyed, my parents have died and I continue to fight cancer and 2 incurable diseases while you all ride fame and attention off my life's hard work," the statement continues. In an interview with Lordstown Motors last year, Burrow actually said he didn't like the 'Tiger King' nickname being hoisted upon him, mostly because of the show's depiction of poor treatment of tigers and other animals."See, I don't like that one that much. I don't like that show, I have not seen the show, because I don't like seeing animals in cages, I don't really like that," he said in the interview. "So, I didn't see the show, so I don't like that nickname."Maldonado was resentenced to 21 years in prison in January of 2022, a sentence reduced by a year from a previous sentence, following his 2020 conviction by a federal jury of two counts of murder-for-hire, eight counts of violating the Lacey Act and nine counts of violating the Endangered Species Act.His letter continues, claiming the "corrupt Department of Justice has the evidence," regarding a plot to hill him and "refuse to admit a horrible wrong has been done to me.""I am in dire need for experienced criminal attorneys to move my case along before I die in here," Maldonado writes, before proposing something of a peace offering to Burrow."Since everyone is enjoying the fame of being the Tiger King and I'm suffering wrongfully in prison in a cage. How about doing a good deed and helping me raise $20,000 for a down payment to hire attorneys?"Maybe paying it forward, God might help you get to the SuperBowl this year and I could go home for Christmas," he continues. "Then we can work together to stop animals from being in a cage."In June of this year, he launched his 2024 presidential campaign.
