An investigation is underway after an armed P.E. teacher set fire to a Calhoun County high school.Just before 8 a.m. Thursday, the principal of Saks High School, Seth Taylor, was making his daily rounds when he noticed smoke coming from the school's gym, according to the Calhoun County Sheriff.While Taylor was investigating the source of the smoke, a door opened behind him at which point he saw the school's P.E. teacher, 38-year-old LaGregory Thomas, who was shirtless and holding a pistol.Stay up-to-date: The latest headlines and weather from WVTM 13 Taylor noticed that Thomas was not in a normal mental state and convinced him to drop the gun and follow him outside.Once clear of the gym, the school's resource officer arrived and took Thomas into custody. He has since been charged with second-degree arson and criminal mischief.According to Calhoun County Superintendent Dr. Jose Reyes, campus security and local law enforcement were immediately called in to investigate the incident, adding that at no point was there any "imminent threat to the safety of our campus community." An investigation is underway after an armed P.E. teacher set fire to a Calhoun County high school.

Just before 8 a.m. Thursday, the principal of Saks High School, Seth Taylor, was making his daily rounds when he noticed smoke coming from the school's gym, according to the Calhoun County Sheriff.
