Impact Day: Rain with a few storms soaking Alabama Monday

WVTM 13 LIVE DOPPLER RADAR IS SEEING A GREAT DEAL OF HEAVIER RAINFALL ACROSS CENTRAL ALABAMA. BUT THE MORE SEVERE STORMS ARE LOCATED IN PORTIONS OF SOUTH AND SOUTHWEST ALABAMA. WE’RE LOOKING RIGHT NOW AT THE SATELLITE AND RADAR COMPOSITE AND WE SEE A LOT MORE HEAVIER RAINFALL ALONG THAT 59 AND 20 CORRIDOR SOUTH AND WESTWARD TOWARDS THE UNIVERSITY OF WEST ALABAMA AND LIVINGSTON, 59 IN SECTIONS OF MISSISSIPPI. CERTAINLY SEEING A GREAT DEAL OF ACTIVE WEATHER. THERE’S A TORNADO WARNING RIGHT NOW OVER AREAS OF 59 JUST TO THE NORTH OF HATTIESBURG. SO THIS RIGHT HERE IS A ZOOMED IN VERSION OF THE TORNADO WATCH TO REALLY SHOW YOU THERE RIGHT NOW. AND NINE ALABAMA COUNTIES THAT ARE UNDERNEATH THIS TORNADO WATCH UNTIL 11 A.M. AND JUST FOR PERSPECTIVE, KEEP IN MIND, MOST OF US ARE LIKELY SEEING THE HEAVIER RAINFALL RIGHT NOW, BUT THE TORNADO THREAT IS A LOT HIGHER. THE FARTHER SOUTH YOU GET. AND SO WE’RE NOT SEEING ANY KIND OF WATCHES HERE IN CENTRAL ALABAMA. IT’S ALONG THE GULF COAST WHERE IT’S 15 TO 20 DEGREES WARMER. THAT’S WHERE THE WARM FRONT IS LOCATED. THE AIR IS A LOT MORE ERRATIC AND CERTAINLY A LOT MORE HUMID OVER THE NEXT SEVERAL DAYS HERE. WE’RE GOING TO SEE TEMPERATURES ON THAT ROLLER COASTER RIDE AGAIN TUESDAY, WEDNESDAY, MID EIGHTIES WILL BE ON THE OUTER FRINGES OF THIS STALLED OUT FRONT. SO THERE COULD BE A COUPLE OF SHOWERS FROM TIME TO TIME ON TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY, BUT NOT NEARLY AS MUCH RAIN AS WE’RE SEEING RIGHT NOW. NOW, THIS IS A FEATURE CAST THAT DOES SHOW THAT THE BULK OF THE RAIN BY ABOUT NINE OR 10 A.M. WILL START TO MOVE SOUTHWARD AND IT STILL SHOWS THAT ISOLATED THREAT FOR SEVERE STORMS IN THE AFTERNOON. BUT MOST OF US ARE LIKELY GOING TO ENCOUNTER THAT RAINFALL IMPACTING YOU BEFORE LUNCH TODAY ALONG THE I-64 CORRIDOR. SO BY TONIGHT, WE COULD SEE A FEW LITTLE STRAY SHOWERS. BUT REALLY THE OUTSKIRTS OF THAT STALLED OUT FRONT IS WE’RE THE FOCAL POINT FOR SHOWER AND THUNDERSTORM DEVELOPMENT WILL BE OVER THE NEXT SEVERAL DAYS. ANY PLANS THAT YOU HAVE TO HEAD OUT THE DOOR THIS AFTERNOON, THOSE RAIN CHANCES AGAIN, IT WILL START TO BECOME A LOT MORE OR LESS AS WE MOVE TOWARDS THREE OR 4:00 IN THE AFTERNOON. AND IN YOUR SEVENTH DAY FORECAST, THERE’S THAT IMPACT DAY. WE’VE GOT THE IMPACT SYMBOL. SO YOU’RE GOING TO WALK OUT THE DOOR AND YOU’LL NEED THE RAIN GEAR THAT WILL SHOW YOU SOME IMPACTS THERE. MID SEVENTIES IN THE AFTERNOON. SO IT’S NOT GOING TO RAIN ALL DAY, ESPECIALLY IN NORTH ALABAMA. A LOT OF THESE THREATS ARE PARTICULARLY FOR SOUTH ALABAMA AND ANY SPRING BREAKERS THAT ARE HEADED ALONG THE GULF COAST. MOST OF US ARE SEEING THE SHOWERS AND THE FORECAST, I THINK INTO THURSDAY AND FRIDAY WHEN THE TEMPERATURES WILL BE SLIGHTLY COO
