Most activity slims after dark then short-term guidance reveals a few more showers developing through the overnight. These should be light, before heavier downpours become more likely Saturday. MORE RAIN THIS WEEKEND Central Alabama becomes a touch grayer into the weekend with seasonable temperatures in the upper 70s and lower 80s. Better coverage of rain is expected Saturday as a disturbance digs south promoting better forcing for scattered showers and a few storms. Rain showers are more likely than thunderstorms, but some locally heavy rain is anticipated. A few showers will linger into Sunday, but coverage looks a lot lower by the time we reach the afternoon. By this time, rain will be moving to our east and sunshine will be on the brink of returning with much drier air on our doorstep! FALL WEATHER NEXT WEEK!Following Saturday's front is a much drier airmass than the ones we've seen up to this point. A more significant drop in humidity will allow overnight lows to fall closer to the upper 50s by Monday morning. High temperatures will still make it into the low 80s in most areas with a blue sky full of sunshine. But, it will be comfortable with the absence of thick, tropical moisture. Cooler mornings and warm afternoons. We're getting there, Fall is coming! Scattered showers are in the forecast, although the chance for thunderstorms will be more isolated.This same kind of forecast is in place in Birmingham for the UAB game.
